I am in awe of the Miami Heat players’ talents. I am confused, though, when LeBron James generously and accurately says that he is meant to be a role model for young people, but then speaks so poorly in public. His use of “ain’t” is constant, as in his quote in the Miami Herald on Kevin Durant: “I ain’t beyond that. I ain’t beyond that at all.”
This type of talk belongs in the locker room and not in public where young people will imitate him and later wonder why they can’t find jobs. He will not be a great role model for young people until he speaks proper English. I admire James and know that he is capable of paying more attention to his language for the sake of Miami’s children.
