Coral Gables designer to appear on ‘Under The Gunn’

Reality (TV) doesn’t bite for Oscar Garcia Lopez. The 40-year-old Coral Gables designer will be making it or breaking it on Lifetime’s new fashion competition show Under the Gunn, premiering 9 p.m. Thursday.

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn turns host, calling the shots, seeing if 15 rising designers can cut the mustard and win $100,000, his/her own sewing studio, a trip to Paris, and a spread in Marie Claire.

Garcia Lopez, who says his “lavish” gowns are for “Miami society ladies,” has worked hard for his moment in the sun. According to his bio on MyLifetime.com: “Oscar made two attempts to flee Cuba before he found his way to freedom.”

Will Garcia Lopez be able to handle the heat? Gunn admitted to The New York Daily News he’s less Mr. Nice Guy and more Gordon Ramsay on this The Voice-style show. “You will see some dimensions of me that you don’t see on Runway, especially my temper,” Gunn said. “I hope people recognize that I’m a real person, and some things can push my buttons.”

Puppy love

Boca Raton native Amanda Jemini, who has the presigious honor of being the 16th Annual (yes it’s every year) Miss Hooters International, bought herself a toy French bulldog last week at TeaCups Puppies & Boutique’s new Davie location. Her name: Chaco. Her price: $5K. So worth it! The swimsuit model fell head over high heels, and judging by her selfies, it appears as if the feeling is mutual. The Broward shop has seen more celebrity action than a South Beach club lately. Already in perusing pups: Trey Songz, Serena Williams, Noah Matthews, from True Blood, and McKaylee True from Dance Moms.

Empire state of mind

Join the always personable Julissa Bermudez of Empire Girls, 106 & Park, and host of the Nuvo TV comedy series Stand Up and Deliver as she co-hosts a New Year, New You Fashion Show with radio personality Nathalie Pozo at Macy’s Dadeland Fashion Store, Second Floor, 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

The event will feature the latest trends from active to dressy styles, makeup consultations, and a free tarot-card reading. Spend $75 in women’s clothing or Benefit cosmetics and go home with an autographed photo of Bermudez and a girly gift. RSVP: Seating is limited; RSVP to http://www.EmpireGirlAtMacys.eventbrite.com or call 305-577-1818.

Courtside follies

Gabrielle Union isn’t just a fan of Dwyane Wade, she’s actually a big follower of his sport as well.

While appearing on The Queen Latifah Show Monday , she was asked by the host about her knowledge of basketball.

“I know the offense, I know the defensive schemes and I know when they haven’t made proper adjustments,” said Union, who co-starred with Latifah in 2007’s The Perfect Holiday. “So I kindly offer my advice to Coach Spoelstra on occasion.”

Union, in a ladylike black and white Rachel Roy dress (nope, no bump seen), added that she also screams “encouraging things” to her fiancé No. 3, and that she can get a little feisty with opposition.

“I did actually yell out to DeAndre Jordan of the [Los Angeles] Clippers — sweet man, but not when he plays the Heat — that I was going to unfollow him on Instagram.”
