Norwegian Epic to sail year-round from Barcelona

Pedro Portal / El Nuevo Herald

The 4,100-passenger Norwegian Epic is saying “so long’’ to Miami. As of April 30, 2015, Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship will make Barcelona, Spain, its new home port year-round. Itineraries will be released in March.

Previously, Epic sailed from Miami to the Caribbean in the winter months and in Europe from spring through fall. The first ship to offer solo cabins, Epic also boasts 20 dining options as part of Norwegian’s “freestyle’’ cruising concept that encourages less-structured days on board.

Norwegian will maintain a year-round presence in Miami. In February, its new ship, the 3,969-passenger Norwegian Getaway will begin sailing from PortMiami.
