OK, let me get this straight: The Florida Panthers wants $70 million in public money to make them profitable because they are losing $20 million a year? Didn’t the Broward County Commission just give them $4 million for a new scoreboard? However, all the other events they support such as concerts are making money. The logic is that if we give them this $70 million, the hockey team will bring in tourist dollars.
The last time I checked, almost all of the rest of the United States was in below zero temperatures. Now if that is not an incentive to get tourists here, I don’t know what is.
