Less rain expected for the weekend in South Florida

Friday’s commute to work shouldn’t be quite as wet as it has been for the last couple of days.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 30 percent chance of rain.

“There will still be some showers around, but it won’t be as soggy,” said Chuck Caracozza, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

On Thursday, there was a 90 percent chance of rain, caused by a warm front moving through.

The wet weather led to chaos on the roads, with dozens of crashes littering major roadways and closing lanes, said Florida Highway Patrol Spokesman Joe Sanchez.

“The last couple of days we have had a significant amount of accidents,” Sanchez said. “Drivers need to be cautious.”

The chance of rain, however, decreases by Sunday to 20 percent.

“By the end of the weekend we should be in good shape,” Caracozza said.
