Student falls from third-floor at Miami Beach High

Miami-Dade Public Schools police were investigating an incident Wednesday at Miami Beach Senior High where a student fell from the third floor to a walkway.

The17-year-old female student was taken to Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries. Her condition was unknown late Wednesday.

Police have not labeled the incident an accident or a suicide attempt.

The school was placed on lockdown and students were released in a controlled dismissal, according to

police spokesman Ivan Silva.
