Fort Lauderdale-based Autonation, the largest auto sales retailer in the country, said Monday its sales of new vehicles rose 6 percent in December 2013 over 2012. The results beat the industry overall, which reported flat sales. For the year, Autonation’s new vehicle sales rose 11 percent.
Leading the field were sales of luxury vehicles from Mercedes, which rose 10 percent, and BMW, which rose 16 percent. In Florida, sales for the year rose 8 percent.
