Police investigate fatal shooting at Miami Beach gas station

Police are hoping surveillance cameras at a Miami Beach gas station captured an early morning fatal shooting on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. when police received a call of a shooting at a Shell Station at 845 Fifth St.

Arriving officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police spokeswoman Det. Vivian Hernandez.

The crime scene spread a block as the wounded man apparently tried to run from the shooter.

The man was rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.

Police on Sunday were on the scene trying to determine what led up to the shooting.

Hernandez said the station - near the gateway to the city - had outside cameras. “Hopefully the angle of the video benefits our detectives.”

The victim’s name has not been released.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 305-673-7776 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-8477.
