A fresh start for Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade?

WEB VOTE What's your opinion about Dwyane Wade fathering a child while "on break" from his relationship with actress Gabrielle Union?

All seems well on the romantic front for Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, who were besieged last week after Wade announced a slip-up of protection resulted in a kid. The basketball player and his betrothed, along with Chris and Adrienne Bosh, were hosted at Resorts World Bimini, Bahamas for NYE, the property announced, along with pics of the happy foursome.

Wade, 31, admitted during a press conference that the boy was conceived while he was on a “break” with the star of Being Mary Jane, which starts up again on BET Tuesday night. But if you do the math, nine months before the baby was born (Nov. 10), D&G seemed hot and heavy. In February, Union captioned a pic on Instagram of the A Father First author with her bulldog: “It's me and my boyfriend,” quoting the Toni Braxton ditty. The next month (when the pregnancy tests kept coming back positive), Union began posting sad things like, “Sometimes you have to get knocked down lower than you have ever been, to stand up taller than you ever were.” Union sure is a forgiving sort. Jewelry helps.

No word what Wade’s former mistress, Aja Metoyer, did to ring in her new year with almost 2 month old baby Xavier. Let’s hope she had a babysitter. Little is known about Metoyer, because unlike other Basketball Wives types, she is not active on social media. Good luck Googling her. Her social media sites are all but nonexistent. All we know is that she is 30 years of age and lives in L.A., favors famous people and is attractive. She has just 66 followers on a cryptic looking Twitter account @ajametoyer.

Size matters

Is Robin Thicke a divo (aka a male diva)? The New York Post reports that the Blurred Lines singer was so upset by how small his room was at the SLS Hotel South Beach that he threatened to pull out of his New Year’s Eve appearance. “His travel agent was calling all over Miami to get him a bigger room at a different hotel,” a source told Page Six. But a rep for the SLS denied the drama to the newspaper, saying, “Robin has been a great guest,” and Thicke ended up staying there. Though an SLS rep did not get back to The Miami Herald regarding the room size, we checked the website and a picture of a suite does appear to have a couch and bed wedged up closely together.

Eyes have it

Now that she’s looking for roles, Gabrielle Anwar wants to see clearly in 2014. The former Burn Notice star hit up “LASIK Surgeon to the Stars” Dr. Cory Lessner to correct her vision last week. Anwar was photographed at the Millennium Laser Eye Centers in Sunrise, getting a consultation. “Her examination showed her to be an excellent candidate,” said Lessner, “so we decided to proceed with her LASIK so that she could enjoy an upcoming skiing trip without the hassle of glasses and contact lenses.”

Living it up

Living up to her Skinnygirl title, a bikini-clad Bethenny Frankel was photographed frolicking in Miami Beach with new guy, NYC finance pro Michael “Mac” Cerussi, whose family spent a lot of time in Palm Beach County. The talk show host and her fine, sculpted man spent New Year’s Eve together at the Mondrian South Beach, E! News first reported. Frankel is still in a heated custody battle with her ex, Jason Hoppy, who still apparently lives under the same roof as Frankel and their 3-year-old daughter. Frankel was last linked to billionaire Warren Lichtenstein, but this dude is hotter and way younger. “Finally a nice beach day in Miami. Jumping into the ocean to plunge into the new year," Frankel tweeted.

Valerie Harper: I’m not ‘cancer free’

Sounded too good to be true, and it was: Valerie Harper is not “cancer free,” as Closer Weekly reported. There is no cure for leptomeningeal carcinomatosis — cancer of the membranes around Harper’s brain. The veteran actress says in a statement that the magazine’s reporter misunderstood when she said her most recent full-body scan was clean and that the cancer had not spread.
