If you have resolved to become a more knowledgeable wine consumer or purveyor in 2014, Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management has the course for you.

The Business of Wine advanced certificate program covers grape growing, wine making, analytical tasting, wine-food pairing, importing, wholesaling and retailing.

Teachers are “Chip” Cassidy, Bill Hebrank and Eric Hemer, who holds the rare dual qualifications of Master of Wine and Master Sommelier.

Classes meet from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. Mondays beginning Jan. 27 at the Advanced Wine Lab on FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus, 15100 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami. Cost is $749, with registration required at wine.fiu.edu or 305-919-4138.

Take the cake

db Bistro Moderne, 255 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Miami, is accepting orders through Jan. 31 for chef Jerome Maure’s galette des rois, a frangipane-filled confection traditionally made to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany or, as we say in Miami, Three Kings Day. Available to take out or eat in, it’s $32 in an 8-inch version, $42 in a 10-inch; 305-421-8800.

Class act

Whole Foods Market, 6701 Red Rd., Coral Gables, hosts a free workshop at 7 p.m. Monday on healthful food selection and preparation. At 7 p.m. Jan. 9, Jordan Marano, executive chef at Rosa Mexicano South Beach, gives a free cooking demonstration; 305-421-9421.
