We lived in Miami for 35 years and were forced out by Hurricane Andrew. We are still avid Miami Hurricanes fans and are disappointed that we do not have an on-campus stadium. The teams of the ’90s brought in millions. Where did that money go?
Recruiters use this against us. Ask a high school player if he would rather travel 40 miles to a pro stadium and play in front of 17,000 fans or have an on-campus stadium filled to the brim with 70,000 cheering fans. You know the answer. Where are the boosters? Why doesn’t UM President Donna Shalala do something?
We are no longer “Quarterback U.” We don’t have great numbers of NFL players to encourage the current teams. We are sad. And if coach Al Golden were to leave, I would not blame him.
