High-speed crash kills two in Coral Springs

Two men died early Wednesday when their speeding car plowed into a tree in Coral Springs, police said.

Killed were driver Joseph Lawrence Clarke, 22, of Coral Springs, and passenger Travis Mark Wilson, 22, of Lauderhill.

Coral Springs police said Clarke crashed his 1995 Eagle Talon into a tree off a curve in the 1900 block of Lakeview Drive at 5:25 a.m. Officers found the car wrapped around the tree.

Both men died immediately, police said.

“The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing, but speed does appear to be a factor,” Coral Springs Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said in a news release.
