Broward in running for Florida principal, vice principal of year

Florida leaders on Monday announced the finalists for Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year — with Broward County in the running for both awards.

Three finalists statewide were chosen for each award. In the Principal category, Broward’s Brian Kingsley, principal of Gulfstream Middle School, is one of the finalists.

In the Assistant Principal category, Broward’s Jo-Anne Misiewicz-Selter, of Flamingo Elementary, is among the three finalists.

Winners will be announced in February, with the winning principal getting a $5,000 prize, and the winning assistant principal getting a $2,500 prize. Principals from Miami-Dade schools won both awards last year.
