Miami’s Top Five: What you should know Monday

 

1. South Florida stores are offering discounts and extending their hours in the final shopping sprint before Christmas.

2. The Miami Heat hosts the Atlanta Hawks at AmericanAirlines Arena. Michael Beasley, sidelined with a hamstring injury, might play in the 7:30 p.m. game, which will air on SUN.

3. South Floridians are getting ready for Nochebuena, with many Cuban-Americans picking up their roasted pig and Nicaraguans preparing their gallina rellena(stuffed hen).

4. We’re feeling the heat in South Florida, with Monday’s highs expected to reach the mid-80s before cooling down to the low-70s overnight. Forecasters say Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be cooler.

5. Monday is the deadline to enroll in Obamacare health plans to be covered by Jan. 1
