The recent budget deal will cut $6 billion in veterans benefits. This will mean a decrease in the cost of living and medical treatment for our wounded heroes and their families.
How can any member of Congress justify this insult and injustice to the people who have sacrificed so much to represent and defend this country?
Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer defended the vote by comparing the military to federal workers who will also see pay cuts. Are they serious? How many civil workers wear flak jackets, come home with lost limbs, suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and have their lives and those of their families irreparably changed?
In a $4 trillion annual budget, I can’t believe leaders can’t find other areas to cut. Veterans deserve all we as a nation can give them. This is an unconscionable and cowardly government act.
