Two struck by bus at Omni Station in Miami

Two men were struck by a bus at the Omni Station in Miami Monday night.

According to Miami-Dade Police, a 74-year-old man, accompanied by his 12-year-old grandson, and a 44-year-old man were heading to the Miami Heat game when the two men were struck by the bus at the driveway leading into the station.

A security guard rushed to keep everyone calm while rescue responded.

“The security guard who was at the station ran over and found a 44-year-old male that was part way under the bus and going into shock. He was able to keep this patient calm until fire rescue arrived,” said Lt. Ignatius Carroll with the Miami-Dade Police.

The 44-year-old was transported to Ryder Trauma Center. The man had to be pulled out from under the bus. Fire rescue said he had head trauma and mangled one of his hands.

There were 20 people on the bus at the time of the accident, according to police.
