South Dade boys’ basketball team rolls over Southridge

Tylan Birts led the South Dade boys’ basketball team to a 61-47 victory over the Southridge Spartans on Wednesday night.

Birts scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

“He came mentally focused for the job at hand. He took over the game aggressively which made him the leading scorer,” said Buccaneers coach Rick Garcia.

Standout Daniel Cooper had 15 points, three blocks, seven assists and seven rebounds. Rodney Cartwright had seven points, four steals and eight rebounds for South Dade.

Even with the victory South Dade remains focused. “We need to continue working on our rebounds and free throw shooting during practice,” said Garcia.

The Bucaneers (6-1) will take on the Killian Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
