Re the Dec. 5 letter Obamacare not needed: As a practicing physician, I would love nothing more than to have Medicare for everyone, rather than the fragmented, often incomprehensible system we now have. I agree with the writer on this point.
However the insurance carriers will never allow this to happen. Their profits and jobs are at stake. The Affordable Care Act is the typical product of Congressional committees. There are positives and negatives.
The power behind the scenes is the insurance carriers, who control many politicians. They are responsible for this law, after seeing to it that their interests are preserved. So place the blame where it belongs.
