Opening of new State Road 826 ramp delayed due to rain

Attention, Monday morning commuters: The new southbound State Road 826 ramp to westbound State Road 836 ramp did not open Sunday as planned because of the recent rain, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

Because the pavement was wet from recent rain, the contractor could not paint the new lane markings, said FDOT spokesman Oscar Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said the opening will likely be mid-week and there will be some closures before it opens.

Here’s how the ramp will work when it opens:

• Drivers on southbound SR 826 heading to westbound SR 836 will exit approximately three-quarters of a mile earlier, immediately after passing the Northwest 25 Street exit.

• Drivers on the southbound SR 826 ramp from NW 25 Street will exit to the left and connect with the mainline southbound SR 826 or continue straight on the ramp lane to connect with westbound SR 836.

When the ramp opens there will also be three new bridges.
