Delsey Helium Aero 19-inch International Carry-On Expandable Trolley

Special to The Miami Herald

Sometimes a hard (carry-on) bag is good to find. Delsey has a winner with the Helium Aero 19-inch International Carry-On Expandable Trolley — a mouthful of a name. It’s loaded with useful features not common in most wheel-aboards. The 19-inch by 13-inch by 9.5-inch hard polycarbonate bag is tough but lightweight. It expands another 2 inches in depth via a mid-bag external zipper. A spacious front zippered compartment with a built-in padded sleeve and two big zippered mesh pockets, accordions open part way to keep files, a laptop, and accessories safely secured within the compartment. Or, snap out the Velcro-closure side panels to open fully for maximum access. The bag rolls on four 360-degree-rotation twin spinner wheels, has a recessed one-button locking pull-handle system, and provides both top and side padded carry handles. Use the convenient built-in TSA-compliant combination lock, or secure the dual zippers with your own little padlock the old-fashioned way.

Delsey Helium Aero 19-inch International Carry-On Expandable Trolley is about $150 at luggage stores and online.

    Reigning rain wrap

Sometimes a raincoat is too bulky to schlep; a plastic poncho too tacky. That may be just the time for a RainRap. This softer, classier water-repellant polyester wrapping poncho has a double-sided button closure and a built-in hood. And it’s reversible, with a range of bright and/or muted color combinations, from black/grey to hot pink/orange, and a black/leopard print. The RainRap has a cape-like flow and drapes to about 26 inches in length at the back. A longer version, the SpiritRap is 35 inches long, and comes in a variety of team color combinations for wet days at the stadium. The fast-drying light-weight (8 ounces) cover-up is one-size-fits-all and stashes in an included travel pouch, which in turn stashes unobtrusively in a purse or knapsack until needed.
