Blanche Ely cruises past Fort Lauderdale

 

Lance Tejada II scored 32 points and grabbed five rebounds helping Blanche Ely cruise past Fort Lauderdale High 75-65 on Wednesday.

Tejada II made a living from the free-throw line, going 13 of 14 from the charity stripe.

Javon Heastie scored 14 points and recorded a block and a steal while Joshua Floyd scored three points and added six assists in the Tigers win.

Blanche Ely, as a team, thrived on penetrating to the basket and as a result enjoyed plenty of trips to the free-throw line. The Tigers shot 19 of 32 from the line as a team.

The Tigers also kept their mistakes to a minimum as they only turned the ball over 10 times.

With the win, Blanche Ely improves to 5-0.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

On the second night of a back-to-back Sagemont defeated Hialeah Eduacational Academy 65-6.

Freshman Kelsey Marshall scored 12 points and dished out five assists. Erica Correa scored 12 points while Alondra Almodovar scored 10 points.

Kandice Smith led Sagemont (5-2) on the boards with 11 rebounds while Dashaun Jackson recorded 10 rebounds.

The Lions avoided falling victim to a trap game a night removed from beating Zion Lutheran (8-1).

Sagemont will now prepare to face off against Doctors Charter on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
