Man shot dead in possible robbery in Northwest Miami-Dade lot

A man was shot dead Thursday morning in a possible robbery, Miami-Dade police said.

Jamal Jones, 26, was killed around 4 a.m. in a vacant lot at Northwest 15th Avenue at 77th Terrace.

Miami-Dade police are looking for suspects, and said the motive appears to be a robbery.

“This was my only child,” Shanay Hall told CBS4. “He was a good boy. In fact, today is the fifth and he would have been 27 in a month. This hurts so bad.”

Hall said her son was gay and she believes he was targeted in a hate crime.

This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available.
