Georgia signee Sony Michel rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns as American Heritage football team (12-1), led by first year head coach Mike Rumph beat Wauchula Hardee 41-7 in the Class 5A Regional finals to earn its second State Final Four berth.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Kelsey Marshall, Sagemont, girls’ basketball: Marshall had a game-high 25 points, including seven three pointers, to lead the Lions over Palmer Trinity 58-56.

Nicholas Williams, Fort Lauderdale, boys’ basketball: Williams had a game-high 17 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the Flyings L’s over Monarch. 66-43.

Vanessa Agudelo, Douglas, girls’ soccer: Agudelo’s goal held up as the Eagles (9-1-2) beat Palm Beach Central 1-0.

Wade Freebeck, St. Thomas Aquinas, football: Freebeck threw three touchdown passes as the Raiders bid to repeat as Class 7A state champions ended with a 35-28 loss to Palm Beach Dwyer in the 7A regional finals.

Kidens Joseph, Blanche Ely, boys’ soccer: Joseph had two goals to lead the Tigers (4-2-1) over Palm Beaach Lakes 2-1.

Briyana Lloyd, South Broward, girls’ basketball: Lloyd had a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Bulldogs (5-1) rallied for a 53-50 victory over reigning Class 8A state champions Orlando Dr. Phillips.

Ashley McGuigan, Miramar, girls’ soccer: McGuigan had two goals to lead the Patriots over Hollywood Hills 5-0.

Youri Derine and Ivan Gutierrez, Hallandale, boys’ soccer: Derine and Gutierrez each scored two goals to lead the Chargers (3-3) over South Plantation 4-2.

Cici Wojcik, Coral Springs Charter, girls’ basketball: Wojcik had a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers (7-0) over Northeast 52-46.

Tony Segota, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ soccer: Segota had three goals and an assist to lead the Chiefs (3-3-1) over rival Archbishop McCarthy 5-3.

Eric Pittman, Miramar, football: Pitman rushed for 113 yards as the Patriots fell 12-10 to Palm Beach Gardens in the Region 4-8A Finals.

Lance Tejada III, Blanche Ely, boys’ basketball: The East Carolina signee had a game-high 31 points to lead the two-time defending Class 7A state champion Tigers (3-0) over District 14-7A rival Boyd Anderson 78-75 in overtime.

Hanif Cheatham, Pines Charter, Pines Charter, boys’ basketball: The 6-5 swingman had 24 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Jaguars over Boyd Anderson 60-50.

Bernadette Devaney, Nova, girls’ basketball: Devaney had a game-high 29 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead the Titans over St. Thomas Aquinas 67-37.

Ashley Lizzi, Cooper City, girls’ soccer: Lizzi had two goals to lead the Cowboys (4-1-2) over Everglades 4-0.\

Standout Sam Susi registered her sixth shutout this season as the North Broward Prep girls’ soccer team dominated Pompano Beach, 8-0, on Monday night.

Morgan Sherman led the Eagles by scoring three goals. Adrianna Dubay had one goal and two assists, Rachel Blow had one goal and three assists. Jenna Shortridge, Romy Miller and Yasmin Ruffell-Smith had one goal each.

North Broward Prep advances to a 9-1-1 record and will take on Coral Springs Charter next week, Wednesday December 11 at 6.

They welcome American Heritage today at 6 on their home field.
