TEAMS OF THE WEEK

The Booker T. Washington football team clinched its third consecutive berth in the Class 4A state championship game with a 49-10 win over Cocoa. Treon Harris threw five touchdown passes and ran for one more to lead the Tornadoes, who are ranked No. 1 nationally.

The Champagnat Catholic football team secured its first-ever berth in the state championship game with a 28-14 road victory at Largo Indian Rocks Christian. Michael Frederick finished with 142 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown to lead the undefeated Lions.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Dalvin Cook, Central, football: Cook ran for 244 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries to spark the Rockets’ 54-3 victory over Palm Bay Heritage in the Region 4-6A final.

Johnnie Hankins, South Dade, football: Hankins ran for 102 yards on 24 carries and caught the game-winning eight-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left to lead the Bucs to a 6-0 win against Coral Gables in the Region 4-8A final.

Johnnie Garcia, Southridge, boys’ basketball: Garcia had 27 points and six steals to lead the Spartans in a win against Krop.

Tamorra Graham, South Miami, girls’ basketball: Graham had 28 points to lead the Cobras to a win against previously unbeaten Ferguson.

Sterling Shippy, Coral Reef, wrestling: Shippy won his heavyweight bout to help the Barracudas beat Miami High in a dual meet.

David Chiu-Hung, American, boys’ soccer: Chiu-Hung had six goals combined in wins against North Miami Beach and Westland Hialeah.

Daniela Tenjido, Southwest, girls’ soccer: Tenjido had the lone goal for the Eagles in a 1-0 win against South Miami.

Sheldon Durant scored the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer as the Columbus boys’ basketball team won 63-62 against Southwest on Monday night.

Durant scored 16 points — including four three-pointers. Danny Rodriguez followed with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Melendez had 10 points.

After an 18-point deficit in the third quarter, the Explorers take home their fourth win this season. They will face the Coral Park Rams on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
