Pills saving Haitian women’s lives

Re the Nov. 24 article Easily accessible pill in Haiti allows women to self-induce abortion: Misoprostol, the “easily accessible pill,” is included on World Health Organization’s list of Essential Medicines as a safe and effective way to manage bleeding after childbirth and to treat incomplete abortion and miscarriage and other obstetric indications.

Like any other medicine, without proper education and awareness, it can be used incorrectly. Venture Strategies Innovations has worked on introducing Misoprostol for almost a decade in more than 20 developing countries. We have learned that approving medicines and overseeing quality, training health providers correctly and educating women leads to correct use. These steps also allow this important product to continue saving the lives of women and girls who need it most.

As LeBron leaves, keep it classy Miami

Alright, so James is leaving. We will survive, really. We will miss him for sure.

  • Thanks, LeBron

Downtown Miami’s resurgence was well under way before The Big 3 arrived, gained momentum alongside four consecutive championship runs and won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

  • Missing him LeBron

Although devastated by his decision to leave us, I am immensely grateful to LeBron James for what he gave us: the best four years the Miami sports scene has ever experienced.
