Twin teenage brothers and a 22-year-old accomplice were arrested Saturday after Miami Gardens police say they convinced a 78-year-old man to give them a ride to a bus stop then car-jacked him.
The twins, who are 14, and Orlando Norris, 22, were each charged with armed car jacking.
According to police, Vivian Nunes was approached by the trio while he mowed his lawn outside his house. The trio said they were from out-of-town and needed a ride to catch a bus.
Nunes agreed to help, but while they were on their way, one of the three suspects took out a handgun and pointed it at Nunes’ head, according to a news release.
The teens and Norris then told the man to stop the car and one of them threw him out onto the pavement, police said.
When police arrived, the trio was still in the car but fled. Two were captured immediately and a third hid inside a nearby fenced business. With the help of the Miami Dade Special Response Team, the third person was taken into custody.
Nunes suffered minor scrapes and bruises.
