Just when it looked like Boyd Anderson was going to walk out of the Ely gym with a stirring comeback victory, the two-time defending state champion Tigers staged their own late-game heroics to emerge with a 78-75 overtime victory on Saturday.

Lance Tejada III scored a game-high 31 points, including a layup with 21.6 seconds in regulation that sparked a 6-0 run at the end of regulation and then added two layups in and overtime.

Boyd Anderson, which trailed 21-8 in the first quarter, appeared to have victory in hand after Pitchon Pierre sank two free throws with 48 seconds left in regulation for a 70-63 lead.

But Ely guard Joshua Floyd made two free throws after the Tigers forced a five-second violation, Therrell Gosier hit a hook shot before Floyd forced overtime with a layup with two seconds left in regulation that tied the score 71-71.

The loss wasted a heroic performance by Jef Moise, who poured in a team-high 17 points to help the Cobras (3-2) erase a 13-point deficit heading into the second quarter.

Nick Eubanks had 12 points, and Diandre Wilson added 10 points for the Cobras.

With Moise leading the way the Cobras went on a 26-14 run in the second quarter to get back in the game.

Moise sparked the comeback with a driving layup while being fouled with 2:53 left in the second quarter. Moise missed the free throw but tracked down the offensive rebound and calmly sank a baseline jumper to pull Boyd Anderson within 35-32.

Gosier and Javon Heastie added 15 points each for the Tigers. Floyd finished with nine points.
