Jennifer Rubin’s Nov. 29 column, Now it’s the Senate’s turn to be dysfunctional, brought to mind the cliche: Give a man enough rope and he will hang himself. Sen. Harry Reid was never the sharpest blade in the drawer, and here he has put an inexperienced lame-duck president in jeopardy. Both of these honorable men are about to lose their claim to fame and a favorable legacy.
Reid will now be remembered as the most ineffective Senate majority leader ever. His foolish actions as leader of the Democrats will have President Obama watch helplessly, two or three years hence, as his signature accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act, is repealed.
I predict it will be consigned to the scrap pile along with Prohibition and the poll tax.
