No one loves to pay taxes. But most people want services that require the taxes they don’t love. Constantly cutting taxes is destroying Florida, as well as the nation.
Florida’s infrastructure is crumbling. Locally our sewage system explodes here and there and is an ocean polluter. The courts can’t function properly, roads and bridges need repair and fire and police departments can use more help.
The public is not expected to blindly support taxes. But the public is expected to pay for services rendered. Miami-Dade voters have passed bond issues for public schools and hospitals, which shows that the public is willing to pay for services necessary to the community.
It will take many strong voices to reverse the catastrophic results of cutting taxes. We need the voices of leaders who will fight to right this wrong. And they will need public support.
