A disgruntled Key Largo reader wants Columbus Day changed to Edward Snowden Day. Do we really want to honor a traitor? Regardless of how he felt about the righteousness of his actions, Snowden still betrayed the trust of the leaders of our country. In addition, almost every country in the world has agencies doing the same monitoring of foreign leaders and private citizens.
Letter writer Clyde Cates claims we should honor this man who is, “a beacon of hope for all oppressed Americans living within their homeland.” Neither he nor Edward Snowden stands for truth and justice. Their America is not my America or America for millions of other people who give thanks every day for the freedom we enjoy.
