Ferguson recovers to beat Miami Springs

Special to the Miami Herald

After watching a 21-7 fourth quarter lead slip away, Ferguson recovered nicely when quarterback Joey Rubio found Andres Saldivar for a 33-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds left to give the Falcons a victory over Miami Springs at Milander Stadium.

The touchdown pass completed a quick five-play, 65-yard drive that came just a minute after Springs (7-3) had tied the game with 1:32 left when quarterback Gerald Anderson hit Keauntra Floyd from 41 yards out to complete a three-play 67 yard drive for the Hawks.

Ferguson wrapped up its season 5-5 while the Hawks fell to 7-3 but will head to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years when they take on St. Thomas Aquanis next week.
