The Nov. 1 article No butts about it: Opa-locka ‘saggy pants’ rule being extended to women gave me a good laugh. As a resident of Opa-locka, I have seen this city implement rules that got lost in the wind. Commissioner Dorothy Johnson feels that this will help improve the city’s image? I doubt it, but I will give her credit for trying different ideas.
At the end of the day, our city will always have the stigma of being that troubled community with a high crime rate. The city’s priorities are all wrong. Instead of worrying about someone with saggy pants, election officials need to focus on cleaning up all the illegal activities that are happening outside our front doors daily.
