No charges will be filed against the driver involved in a crash that killed a University of Miami graduate a day after the student participated in commencement services.

Dino Ghilotti was a passenger in a BMW driven by Allison Meyer on May 12 when her car collided with another BMW driven by Rosalia Prado at Bird Road and San Amaro Drive near campus, police said.

Both drivers were injured and Ghilotti was killed in the crash. The drivers have recovered from their injuries, said Gables police spokesperson Kelly Denham.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and Coral Gables traffic homicide investigators wrapped up a nearly six-month probe Tuesday.

It was the decision of the State Attorney’s Office “not to go forward with any charges because there were no criminal charges,” Denham said.

The Ghilotti family “concurs with the decision to move forward without charges being filed or citations being issued in this case,” according to a release from the police department.

Ghilotti was expected to join his family’s construction firm, Ghilotti Construction, head-quartered in Santa Rosa, Calif.

A memorial service was held a day after the crash at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Coral Gables.
