Woman shot on Florida Turnpike in Broward

A woman was injured Saturday night in a shooting on the Florida Turnpike just north of the Cypress Creek toll plaza, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Tonika L. Clark, 31, was shot twice around 10:30 p.m. while sitting in the right rear passenger seat of a white Dodge Journey. Clark was transported to Broward Health North and was in stable condition as of Sunday morning.

FHP believes the shooting may have been the result of a traffic altercation.

Officials have asked anyone with information to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 954-837-4012. The shooter was described as a dark skinned man driving a black sedan, possibly an Infiniti or a foreign make model, with tinted windows. The shooter fled northbound on the Turnpike.
