Detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy they say shot at a group of teens Friday morning in Pembroke Park, sending one girl to the hospital.

David Barton, of West Park, faces charges of premeditated attempted murder, attempted felony murder and shooting at an occupied dwelling.

Makeda Elliott, 17, was walking to her bus stop near Watkins Elementary, 3520 SW 52nd Ave., with about a dozen other students about 6:30 a.m. Friday when bullets rang out. Elliott, a Hallandale High student, was grazed in the neck.

Elliott called her father who drove her to the hospital, where she was treated and released on Friday.

The school was not open at the time of the incident and was not put on lock down.

Barton was arrested at the school Friday after detectives interviewed Hallandale High students who were at the scene of the shooting.

BSO, in a statement, reported that Barton was trying to shoot a boy behind Elliott.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Violent Crimes Detective Timothy Metz at 954-321-4224 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
