From Miami Herald Staff reports

The Coral Springs Charter boys’ bowling team won the District 15 championship Monday.

“This team has matured a lot, and I have seen great growth” Coral Springs Charter coach Nelson Martin said. “I’ve coached some of these kids since they were in middle school and you can definitely tell the difference.”

The Panthers defeated the Pompano Beach Tornadoes in three consecutive baker matches (183-119, 182-176, 183-167), played by Pablo Cerda, Thomas Hoag, Ryan Hernandez, John Schneider and William Kline.

“Pablo has had his best season ever and is averaging 220,” Martin said. “The new additions to the team have also made an impact, such as John Schneider and Ryan Hernandez.”

Hernandez is averaging 177 this season followed by Schneider with 174.

Coral Springs Charter improved to 12-0 and advances to the state championship.

“I’ve always gone with one or two players to states but never as a whole team, and both boys and girls,” Martin said. “If we compete at the level we have bowled all season, I don’t see why we wouldn’t have a chance to win it all.”
