I was appalled and saddened by David Fleshler’s Oct. 20 article, Growing its talent despite challenges, regarding the Miami Symphony Orchestra.
At a time when there was absolutely no classical music available in Miami, Maestro Manuel Ochoa had the courage and drive to create the Miami Symphony.
He and his wife Sofia worked tirelessly to keep the orchestra going regardless of the obstacles. Thanks to him, Eduardo Maturet is where he is today.
The comments by Maturet were insensitive and injurious to the memory of Maestro Ochoa. Shame on him!
