Haircuts to help fight breast cancer
Want to get clipped? From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3, in Losner Park in Homestead, volunteer hair stylists will unite in a "Cut-A-Thon’ in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and the Homestead Soup Kitchen.
The inspiration for the event came from Nancy Torres, owner of Hair Now Salon, to honor her close friend, who died in 2006, of breast cancer. She and her staff will be joined by stylists from Cuttin’ Loose and Ralph’s Salon, to perform wet and dry cuts for a $20 donation.
"Raising awareness of cancer and contributing to the Susan G. Komen Foundation is a way to help all women and it gives back to the community," Torres said.
Losner Park is at 104 N. Krome Ave. in Homestead. For more information call Torres at 305-989-2777; Julie at 305-248-7441, or Ralph at 305-247-62380.
