Chicago is widely embraced as the home of the blues. The genre’s godfather penned its anthem, Sweet Home Chicago, and the Chicago Blues Festival draws more than 100,000 fans each summer. But come next year, the National Blues Museum will settle in 300 miles south in St. Louis. Organizers of the project say St. Louis has its own deserving musical history, including hometown heroes Ike Turner, Albert King and of course, Chuck Berry.
