Quinton Flowers’ TD toss helps Jackson edge Pace

Special to the Miami Herald

With a chance at the postseason off the table, Jackson (4-4) was simply playing for pride Friday night. Pride proved to be enough as the Generals escaped with the close victory against Monsignor Pace (5-3) on their home field.

With the game tied at 32-32 with just under two minutes remaining, Generals quarterback Quinton Flowers launched a deep pass into the hands of streaking wide receiver Jovon Durant for a 42-yard touchdown score to give Jackson the lead.

The Spartans marched down to the Generals’ 18-yard line with 10 seconds remaining, but an interception ended their run.
