Rich Stuart picks up 200th win as Belen defeats Sunset

Special to the Miami Herald

As the longest tenured current high school football coach in Miami-Dade County, it was a special day for Belen Jesuit coach Rich Stuart on Friday afternoon.

After the Wolverines had eked out the win against Sunset (1-7, 0-4 District 15-8A) at Belen (6-2, 3-1), Stuart had his 200th victory.

“I would’ve never imagined 31 years ago that I would still be standing here right now 200 wins later,” Stuart said. “So many things go through your mind at moments like this, from how far our little school has come in terms of growth, to the dedication of my longtime assistant coaches. … We’ve done everything … and I always had everyone’s support.”
