Baptist Health buys LeJeune Road parcels

Baptist Health South Florida paid $7.4 million to purchase several parcels of retail commercial property on LeJeune Road in Coral Gables from Century Laguna, a company led by developer Sergio Pino.

The transaction, which closed Oct. 15, spans 4201 to 4231 S. LeJeune Road, which is a block-long stretch of LeJeune between Altara Avenue and San Lorenzo Avenue. The property currently includes a Sir Pizza restaurant and a former U.S. Century Bank office.

“The long-term goal is to redevelop the parcels into a medical-office building,’’ said Kathleen Moorman, corporate vice president of real estate for Baptist. “We haven’t quite solidified what that will be.’’

Baptist owns the nearby Doctors Hospital and an urgent care and diagnostic center at Giralda Avenue and Douglas Road. It also has its corporate headquarters at 6855 Red Road.
