The investigation continued Monday into the death of a Florida City toddler found in a drainage hole hours after she went missing.
Mariah Neveah Johnson, who was a week shy of turning 2, was found in the ditch Saturday just south of Palm Drive and Ninth Avenue, near her mothers home.
She was rushed to Homestead Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives are investigating the death. No arrests have been made. Relatives said the girl was being watched by her mothers boyfriend when she went missing.
A frantic search for the girl was launched Saturday by neighbors before the little girl was found.
On Sunday, her mother, Shanika Robinson, told WSVN-Channel 7 she still did not know how her daughter had died.
Right now her death is under investigation until they conduct an autopsy, a tearful Robinson said.
My baby was a happy, lovable girl. She didnt deserve this, she said.
