Jimmy Garcia scores three TDs to lead Belen past Varela

Special to the Miami Herald

Jimmy Garcia galloped as his yellow jersey faded from defenders in the Belen (5-2, 2-1 District 15-8A) win against Varela (4-3, 2-1).

Garcia scored three touchdowns in the victory, including a run up the seam for 46 yards in the third quarter. That score was part of a run of 21 unanswered points for the Wolverines. Garcia had 15 carries for 126 yards.

“I was just following my blocks and if the hole is there, I’m going to hit it,” Garcia said. “I saw the end zone and did all I could just to get in there. The blocking was great. We tell each other to play hard and the game comes easy.”
