The lawyers of Miami-Dade County and veteran school board members mourn the loss of a brilliant and elegant lawyer, Frank Howard.
I met Frank when I was applying to law school and he actively sponsored me for Harvard. I was rejected, but I have done OK.
It was during this process that he produced from his desk a letter written to him by a nationally renowned law school professor.
You could tell from the letter that Mr. Howard was among his most prized students. With a twinkle in his eye and clearly a passion for the law he recounted, with relish, his professor’s style and quirks. When Frank entered a room, his presence, decency and positive attitude was felt by all.
There will never be another Frank Howard.
