After several recent return flights from Europe I have experienced a log jam in the MIA “Immigration” process in Terminal J.
According to the signage in the area there is one line for United States citizens and one line for visitors. However, visitors were also ushered into the U.S. citizen line, resulting in long waits for citizens. Visitors take much longer to process because of finger printing, photos taken, document checks and interviews.
Why have a line for U.S. citizens at all if visitors are going to clog the process for citizens? I was told by one immigration officer that there is no perfect system. Are these rules set by Miami-Dade County?
