Making good on plans announced earlier this year, luxury cruiser operator Seabourn said Friday it had signed a letter of intent with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of a new ship.
Seabourn, which is part of Miami-based Carnival Corp., did not release details about cost or capacity of the new vessel. But in a statement, the cruise company said the vessel would be modeled after the 450-passenger Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest.
The new ship is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2016.
Seabourn announced in February that it was selling three of its older and smaller ships to Windstar Cruises. Those ships will go to the new line in April 2014, April 2015 and May 2015.
