Booker T. Washington empties bench in rout of Gulliver

Special to the Miami Herald

Booker T. Washington had two quarterbacks injured, but the Tornadoes (8-0, District 8-4A) rolled past Gulliver (6-2, 1-1) on Thursday at Curtis Park.

On the first drive, starting quarterback Treon Harris went down with a knee injury and did not return. Coach Tim Harris said that it was intentional to get the second and third string players experience in district play.

“We wanted to get the second tier and third tier guys the opportunity to play in the kind of atmosphere,” coach Tim Harris said.

Running back Krondis Larry scored twice, including a 94-yarder in the fourth quarter.

The Tornadoes defense was also able to hold the Raiders to just 134 yards rushing on 42 carries.
