Goleman 43, Westland Hialeah 34

Goleman survives in a shootout against Westland Hialeah

Special to the Miami Herald

Goleman held on despite a second-half comeback effort by district rival Westland Hialeah at Milander Park to pick up its first win of the season.

Goleman’s O’Brian Anderson rushed for 200 yards on 29 carries with four touchdowns in the win, and fellow running back Jamal McIntyre added another 169 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Gators.

Down 36-34 with 8:29 left in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats (2-5, 1-4 District 16-7A) recovered an onside kick and had an opportunity to take the lead.

But Goleman (1-7, 1-5) held firm, forcing a turnover on downs and setting up Anderson’s fourth and final touchdown to put the game out of reach.
