Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Getaway, will have a host of godmothers when it is christened in February.

The Miami-based cruise line plans to announce Thursday that it has chosen the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders as godmothers for the vessel, which will sail all year from Miami.

“We thought it was an interesting twist on what has been the tradition of godmothers,” said Norwegian Cruise Line president and CEO Kevin Sheehan.

The cruise operator is also announcing a partnership with the Miami Dolphins. Norwegian will become the official cruise line of the Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium, an arrangement that includes signage, cruise giveaways and promotional activity at the stadium. “We’re hoping for a good season for them,” Sheehan said.
